With reference to previous correspondence with

regard to confusion caused by signals in the Inter-

national Code being given an entirely different local signification at various ports. 1 am commanded by my

Lords Commissioners of the admiral by to transmit

herowith copy of a letter dated 26th June from the

Commander in Chief on the China Station with onclosures

in original and to request that the suggestion made

by admiral Lambton may be considered by the Board of

Trade,

It is requested the enclosures to Admiral Lamb-

ton's letter may be returned.
